I feel like I'm still vibrating from the inside out from Sat Hon's masterful and profound account of his personal journey with healing cancer through Complementary Healing Arts (CHA), particularly qigong.Sat Hon's storytelling reads like a symphony, with each chord containing notes suffused with encouragement, hope, inspiration, time tested knowledge and wisdom, authenticity, and a spirit that rhythmically flows back and forth between what is and what can be. A diagnosis of cancer, has Sat Hon explains, is what is, but, through the healing practice of qigong, one can explore the healing potential of what can be. No doubt this book is about qigong and its potent healing effects on cancer, but make no mistake about it, this book is also about hope and how one can not only become cancer free but a "Cancer Warrior" - as Sat Hon compassionately and wisely declares. Sat Hon teaches us how to turn the tides on the cancer experience where we are the warriors, the true heroes who bravely endure the demanding and life changing effects of cancer and its potent and overwhelming protocols of treatment. He does this through his personal experience, his incredible insights, and his innate wisdom, that I know now, has no limits.Sat Hon openly and uninhibitedly shares the gift of qigong. I have cancer and this book really spoke to me. I bought the book and the audiobook and the Kindle version. When I buy a Kindle version that is so good, I will go back and buy the paper copy. This book was that good. Highly recommended!
It was with great anticipation that I awaited the completion of this book. Over the years I have been privileged to bear witness to Master Hon's dedication to sharing ancient Taoist teachings with his students. No easy task I assure you! Unlike many teachers who learn their craft and settle into a standardized lesson plan Master Hon continually questions, seeking the source, looking deeply; he encourages us all to do the same. Master Hon shares his battle with cancer with raw honesty allowing us to see the face of fear. As someone who has worked with cancer patients I find that his sharing offers care givers important insights that overwhelmed patients are unable to articulate. At the same time he demonstrates the warrior's stance as he battles for his life. Sat Hon is a man of the highest integrity who is sometimes brutally compassionate. I can state with absolute certainty the Qigong he has taught me is profound! Qigong has been instrumental in my healing on many levels. Attention to diet and the importance of the GuoLin Healing Walk cannot be overstated.This book like it's author is a rare treasure; to quote Phillip Glass "amazing,inspiring, transformative." I concur assuring you will want to read it again and again. I know I will!Although we are asked to give Healing Cancer With Qigong a star rating of one through five I must give this book a seven star salute. Like the Big Dipper this book lights the night sky illuminating the dark shadows of cancer and offering direction to intrepid voyagers. Master Hon's commitment to helping us all heal our darkness is what makes him a True Master and beautiful soul. Thank you Sifu.
When I read this book I was moved by Master Sat Hon’s humility and honesty in telling his experiences when diagnosed with cancer and finding his way through treatment to an ultimate cure. One can sense the great compassion that went into the writing of this book. For a person who could almost certainly be overwhelmed and fearful in the face of this disease he provides a wealth of information, including but not limited to background of TCM and its great benefits as a complement to western medical treatment for cancer; scientific, genetic, metabolic aspects of cancer; a guide for ways to battle this disease, and healing broths, healing walks, meditations and qigong to practice as one journeys through cancer treatments.This book provides concise information and some easy to follow, simple methods and qigong practices. Although simple, they are profound. The book is written poetically; a beautifully woven tapestry. It is a jam-packed small book, with its information laid out in such a way as not to overwhelm or clutter the mind, but to guide and empower the reader to be front and center in battling cancer, and also to live with a focus beyond cancer.I would recommend this book to any reader, whether he or she is a person diagnosed with cancer or a person who knows someone who has experienced cancer, which when considering both would seem to include everyone. Even though I have not had cancer I have known many who have. In reading this book I felt as though I gained insight into these people’s experiences and I learned how I could better support them. I am very grateful for the words in these pages, grateful to my Sifu for so generously sharing this information and his experiences with the world. I hope many, many others will read this book and become empowered and enlightened in ways to battle cancer and to support those around us who are fighting this disease!
