It has everything you need to know about the basics of geology-- includes earth systems, some basic astronomy, basic oceanography, climatology, etc. and is a fantastic resource. It also helps to have a wonderful teacher, but you can get everything you need from this book if your teacher isn't fantastic. I loved this course so much, I found myself missing it after the quarter ended-- so I changed my major! Hopefully you enjoy it as well, you'll learn a lot and the writing is informative without being dry or boring.

This book is superbly written, illustrated, and organized. It was a pleasure to read and is a reliable guide to the subject matter. My professor said first day of class that this book is what every other geology text should aspire to, and I heartily agree with him.The text reflects the newest scholarship, e.g. on mechanisms of plate tectonics, but is always concise and readable. Virtually every point is illustrated with charts, photographs, or drawings -- like having natural history museum exhibits right in the book. The large scale drawings showing, e.g. overall views of watersheds, or cut-away view of volcanoes or caves, are the best I have seen anywhere. This is important, because, as is the case with anatomy, this is an area where paintings are usually much clearer than photographs.The newest features keep the book up to date with links, e.g., to Google Earth images.In short, if your prof has assigned this book, be happy. If you are looking for a book to use to learn geology on you own, this is the one.

So its q text book. It functions and does its job as a textbook, but it's nothing fascinating. I'm giving it 3 stars only because it was delivered to me in an envelope and when Iopened it, I noticed that whoever had it before me sliced the back cover open. I'm writing this review because i dont want to get charged for something i didnt do. I never open boxes with knives for fear that this might happen. Yes folks, I'm a rare breed that takes time to RIP tape off boxes.

An essay book to understand, has a really clear meaning. It was a requirement for geology class, however would have bought it either way. An e-book/kindle version is light. However kindle has had issues with opening it in windows so mostly worked on android tablet and kindle devices :( would also advice a hard copy if your interested in keeping the book long term in your shelves.

This is an excellent and easy-to-read introduction to geology. The illustrations and diagrams are outstanding, and almost every concept discussed in the text is fully illustrated. Sometimes the explanations were a little vague or terms were used before being defined, but compensating for that are a very good glossary and index. The discussions of plate tectonics and rock formation are especially good.

Brand new, perfect condition. Even comes with the access code for online. I didn't need the code so I didn't use it, but it's really nice that it was available as an option.

Excellent text on Geology. Informative, easy to read, well organized. Covers a variety of introductory material very well. I believe ti can be used in conjunction with a class, or as a stand alone device. If stand alone you should probably get some of the other media that can be purchased with it.

It's so fascinating and I'm learning amazing things. Missing a certain amount because it's very complicated. That doesn't turn me off though

I really enjoyed reading about Sy'Noba and Eze. They are both powerful forces, but they had to find their own way. That's what makes this book different from the other paranormals by Natavia. Everyone around Sy'Noba and Eze knew what lied ahead but wanted them to find their own path. Noba is a force to be reckoned with, she's a beast with the spears. Eze the King of the lost land played no games when it came to his mate. I like the sabres because they were for peace, but some of the lions lost their way when Y'kiki left. Lynx got on my nerves but I'm glad she found her happy. Quanir kept me in stitches, I'm interested to find out more about his and Toyi relationship. Asha should have changed her ways sooner, Koja and Naji met their fate trying to go against the king. Anyone looking for a good read this is the book for you, Natavia is not afraid to step outside the box and I love her for that. Her stories are very detailed, thought provoking and she always brigs the funny 😂😂. ROAR is not to be slept on!!

I really wish I could give this story more stars. Ms. Natavia did a really great job with this book. The story flowed like she lived it and is just retelling what happened. It was detailed and I wasn't lost with all the different characters along the way.it was well written and definitely a page turner!!! I loved the way Eze and Sy'Noba found out their truths through their relationship. Even though they didn't always see eye to eye they had a peaceful love!!! I know we will probably see more of the characters but this was definitely worth the wait!!!

Everytime I read one of your paranormal books i get so engrossed I want to be in it, I loved this. Quanir was a fool, his mouth was just reckless. I wished we had gotten some pov's to see how he was thinking, especially when he became a family man. Sy'noba and Eze def beat a lot of odds to be together, thank goodness they got it right this time. I was happy lynx changed, she was really irking my nerves in the beginning. It was a great book that kept you entertained throughout, the action was just non-stop. Great read, we want more.

This standalone was a real page turner and had me laughing my butt off. I cried a few times as well. Family will screw you over faster than a nicca on the street. I’m happy it was a happy ending and love conquered all the road blocks thrown their way.

I am such a huge fan of Natavia paranormal books. This book was so good I could not put it down. I don’t want to give anything away but you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait for the next installment.

What a book!!!! I devoured it up like a famished person. This is the 3rd book in the fantasy, fairy tale – Cin D’Rella series The story continues with Cin and her friends on their adventure in trying to unravel the mysteries of Briar Rose and Snow White. And my oh my, what an adventure it is. The great detail of the story line and the depth of the characters draws you completely into the book and their world. The manner in which S.J. West weaves the different fairy tales into the book is astounding! A an excellent read. I suppose it can be read as a stand-alone as the story slightly touches on the past but it would be better enjoyed if read after books 1 -2.

Rapunzel, dragon shifters, angel of death! Book 3 will take you to another modern fairytale.The plot twist was sooo amazing! Full of revelations that made me say while reading, “oh my”, “shoot”, “really?”, “oh please no”. I could not put my kindle down.S.J. West I didn’t see that coming! You almost broke my heart for about 30 seconds. Yay, Cin finally learns how to show her feelings to his C.Prince! Promise no cliffhanger! Well that’s for me ladies!

WHAT a twist in a fairytale!!! But it sure pulls you in!It was a great day to read the whole book! Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I laughed... I cried (bawled) I got angry and I swear I WAS part of the story. Loved the ending and as much as I’m anxious for the next book, sad because it’s the last book.S.J.West.. you’re only getting better!!!

I was so ready for this book to come out and couldn’t wait to read more about this world. I have to say I was not disappointed at all. If you like books about fairytales but with an interesting twist, then this series is perfect for you. I have enjoyed the serious so far and can’t wait for the last book to see how it all ends.

A well thought through midpoint in the series filled with hazards for our heroine and a little bit of love along the way. If you liked the first book, then I am sure this one will suit you, too. Personally, I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next one.

I bought this for my mom, she's has dementia. This book is far too complex for her. It was a waste of money, but I suppose it would be good for the Geek Squad nerds.

#7 in the Lincoln Rhyme suspense/police procedural series also features the character of Kathryn Dance. The book is a very good thriller with more than its share of twists. The twists are sure to keep the reader entertained. Just when you feel you have it figured, the antagonists will bring you in a completely different direction.The protagonists feature Lincoln and his usual cast of characters. Mr. Deaver has spent time with his protagonists and he has their personalities developed very well. There are a number of protagonists; the main one being the "Watchmaker."It would be somewhat difficult to describe the "Watchmaker's psychotic storyline without introducing some spoilers. So, I'll not go there. I will say the novel is well worth your time.I went with 4 instead of 5 stars. While the entire novel, I felt, was gripping and a real page turner, the end left me flat. Coming toward the end, I thought the story went a bit "over the top ." I found it too abrupt for an excellently written plot which proceeds it.

I've read all of the Lincoln Rhyme novels, except the Steel Kiss, but to me the formula has become stale. We have seen it all before: twists and turns till you get seasick and a lot of developments which are not exactly plausible. In this genre, unlikely events come with the turf, a bit, but in this novel it's worse than in some (but not all) of the other Deaver novels. Positive points are the character of the Watchmaker, who is quite scary and convincing, and the introduction of Kathryn Dance as kinesics expert. I enjoyed this book more than the previous one, The Twelfth Card (which was quite ludicrous, frankly), but I think I 'm done with the series, for the time being.

Twisting. Classic Deaver: compelling, easy to follow and difficult to put down.No graphic brutality or drag-you-down drama.Interesting storyline with plenty of twists to keep the reader guessing.Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking dialogue.I will re-read this story and always look forward to works by this author.

One star removed for the jaw-clenching repetition of the word "now." Halfway through the book, I was clenching my teeth (sometimes it showed up three times on a page!). By the end I was cringing every time I saw it.Other than that, and some other minor editing misses, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, which was wonderfully complex and layered. The Watchmaker is a terrific villain. If I could be assured the "now" problem was solved, I'd pick up the next book with this character in it.

Dealer does it again. This one had me sucked in from the beginning. I was following along the story line, pleased to see how it was going and waiting to see how the author would tidy everything up. Suddenly WHAM!!! Out of left field Deaver throws a monkey wrench into the clockworks and all goes flying. Nothing is as it seems and the whole story takes on a new twist. Really enjoyed this one.

Jeffrey Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme novels are about serial killers and the policemen who capture them. The hero is a former New York crime scene investigator, who quit the police department after an accident made him a full-body paraplegic (quadriplegic). Do not worry that his paralysis makes him boring. He is now a contract CSI detective for the N.Y.P.D., analyzing evidence with computers, chemicals, and equipment like gas chromatographs. He is the brainy half of a two-part hero. The other half is Amelia Sachs. This sharpshooting redhead and her fellow policemen compliment Rhyme's brains with action."The Cold Moon" has excellent characters, described with concrete imagery. A few receive deep profiles. For example, the villain who is a big fat junk-food gobbling compulsive rapist. And the rapist's boss: a kind of supervillain called the Watchmaker. He's a meticulous perfectionist who manipulates crime scenes and has backup plans for his backup plans, leaving behind a school of red herrings to divert fishermen like Lincoln Rhyme. The Watchmaker is a genius, but so is Rhyme."The Cold Moon" has a new good guy, with whom I was especially pleased. This is Kathryn Dance, an agent of the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation), visiting New York to conduct a seminar. Just as the Watchmaker is not literally a supervillain--he has no superpowers--Dance is not literally a superhero. But she is like a superhero, with her advanced skills in kinesics. (The study of body language and verbal behavior in witnesses and suspects.) It's like she has telepathy. While reading "The Cold Moon," I learned that Deaver has written two subsequent novels starring Kathryn Dance ("The Sleeping Doll" and "Roadside Crosses"). I bought them.Deaver's forte in the Lincoln Rhyme novels is his display of criminalistics, the scientific analysis of crime scene evidence. For this reason, even if his characterizations were flat and his prose amateurish--though actually they are just the opposite--these books would be interesting. Also, at least in "The Cold Moon," his plot has more twists and turns than the cables behind my PC. And the pace of narration is fast, especially with the formatting in the tall paperback (7.5" x 4.25", 656 pages, Pocket Star Books, ISBN-13: 978-0743491570, $9.99 U.S.). Slow reader that I am, I got through a hundred and fifty pages per day. I felt smart!I do, however, advise moderation while reading these books. Though each one has something new, each one also has too much resembling preceding volumes. If you impulsively decide to read them all consecutively, you will get too much of a feeling that you are reading the same book over and over. I recommend reading them, but I strongly recommend allowing at least a couple of months to pass between each volume. Read other books during the interim.

Love Jeffery Deaver, but this book was a bit of a chore to get through. The story went all over the place, and I got bogged down in the details between/among the various plot lines. Then throw in some personal dilemmas for the main characters, and it was a slog. Plus, the main villain is not caught, so we know there will be a sequel...
